National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice(USPAP) Courses

The standards courses are taught by ASA, as well as through the university partners and chapters. You can also take USPAP audio courses through distance learning.  Either version is acceptable for your accreditation or reaccreditation requirements.

    PP/GJ201: Personal Property Valuation Methodology—Introduction

    Prerequisites: None

    Objectives: 

    • Provide an overview of valuation theory within the context of the appraisal process
    • Introduce terminology of appraisal practice
    • Introduce procedural methods
    • Introduce the types of value and their application to various intended uses
    • Explain ethical concerns of appraisers
    • Learn about economic concepts applicable to appraisals

    Course level: Intermediate

    Prerequisites: Successful completion of PP/GJ201 and PP/GJ202

    Objectives: Practice and understand

    • Learn the elements of an appraisal report
    • Expand on analysis of market research from previous courses
    • Learn appraisal report standards and requirements
    • Utilize the approaches and methods used in the preparation of an appraisal
    • Develop an argument for a value conclusion
    • Develop writing skills for an appraisal prepared for insurance coverage
    • Utilize the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) in appraisal and appraisal report preparation
